Our Facilities

Cleanrooms

Our cleanrooms are located in our Montréal (Canada) headquarters. Totalling more than 3, 200 ft2, the rooms are used mostly for the manufacturing of our Space-Qualified Optical Amplifiers. Maintaining a controlled environment with regulated airborne particles, temperature, and humidity is critical in the production of components where even minor impurities can lead to failure.

With strict protocols in place, our cleanrooms guarantee the precision and reliability of our space-based photonics technologies, crucial for space laser communication and exploration.

FBG Facility

Since our involvement with the TAT-9 transatlantic cable project in the late 1980s, we have maintained our own Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) facility. This has allowed us to tailor our FBGs to specific projects for both our own R&D work as well as product-specific customization.

Thermal Vacuum Chamber

Space-qualified products undergo rigorous testing, including shock, vibration, and thermal cycling in a vacuum environment.

MPBC is able to emulate the extreme conditions of space thanks to its own Thermal Vacuum Chamber (TVAC) located in our Montreal facility.

The chamber simulates the vacuum and temperature fluctuations encountered in orbit, enabling precise control of thermal cycling and pressure to verify the durability and performance of components in space-like environments.

Electronic Test Centres

MPBC owns and operates two Electronics Test Centres (etc-mpb.com) in Canada.

Electronic Test Center (ETC) before known as the National Research Council of Canada's EMC facility in Kanata, Ontario.

Ontario

The Ottawa, Ontario facility, located in Kanata, the heart of Canada’s high-tech sector, is a leader in EMI/EMC Compliance Testing.

The ETC is NVLAP-accredited (LAB CODE 200282-0) with extensive experience in compliance testing to MIL-STD 461, DEF-STAN, RTCA DO 160, and CE marking for military and commercial products.

Services include but are not limited to:  Radio Frequency Emissions, High Intensity Radio Field Susceptibility (HIRF), Lightning Indirect Effects, Shielding Effectiveness, TPED/PED, RF Radiation Hazard (RadHaz) testing and availability for in situ-real-time testing.

Alberta

The Airdrie, Alberta facility is a multi-discipline Compliance and Certification Testing laboratory.

It is ILAC-MRA A2LA accredited (2750.01 and 2750.02) with scopes covering EMC/EMI, Radio, mechanical, ingress protection and climatic testing.

The EMC/EMI services include FCC and ISED radio certification, North American/CE/RED compliance for commercial, industrial, laboratory, automotive, machinery, agriculture, aviation and military products.

The environmental and mechanical testing services cover temperature, humidity, altitude, corrosion, vibration, and shock, for a wide range of commercial, avionic and military standards.

All this under a single roof!
